"The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." —Numbers 6:24–26
My name is Michelle Nilsen, and I am thrilled to be serving as a teacher at St. Matthew Lutheran Preschool this school year. This is my second year as a teacher at St. Matthew's preschool. For twenty-three years, I served, first as a teacher and then as the director, for Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool in Everett, WA. Two summers ago, with my youngest daughter getting married and moving into her new life, I felt the call to retire from Prince of Peace, sell my townhouse and move to my cabin out on Lake Sutherland. My prayer was to still work but in a lesser capacity…God answered that prayer by bringing me to St. Matthew!
I actually have two daughters and two grandsons from my oldest daughter (yes, they are my greatest joy!!) I love to hike with my dogs, spend time with family and friends and read. But most of all, I love to spend "be still" time with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
The Bible verse I live my life by is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Preschool Teacher: Kathy Smith
My name is Kathy Smith. I am so excited to be teaching this year at St. Matthew Lutheran Preschool. I absolutely adore working with children. I love to hear their laughter as they play and the look of excitement when they learn something new.
I am married and have two teenage children, who keep me very busy with their many activities of sports and scouting. I enjoy being creative and making things with my hands. My favorite activities are sewing, quilting, building things, and spending time with my family. St. Matthew is my family's home church and I can't wait to share God's word with all our students.
